A fun run that could make an impact
At the very end of the year, you helped make it possible for us to send TEN kids to Camp No Limits. It’s pretty awesome. But since we had such a good year for fundraising, I figure we could easily kick off the new year with a chance to raise some more? Imagine having the money to send ELEVEN kids? Or more!
Every time I sign up for a race, I’ve thrown out the idea of raising money for camp while I run. Every time I’ve thrown out the idea, we’ve raised an additional $500 for a camper.
So… We should give it a try for this weekend! I’m jumping into a running challenge with what may be the least training I’ve had in a while. I’m running in the Rebel Challenge at Disneyland this weekend. That means I’m running a 10K this Saturday (that’s 6.2 miles) and a half marathon on Sunday (that’s 13.1 miles). It’s all part of the Star Wars Marathon weekend and I’m really excited to geek out, be silly, have fun and ride a few rides when I’m not running. We aren’t bringing the kids because they need to be in school. So this is just an adult weekend.
I ran in Walt Disney World’s marathon weekend last year and discovered the fun that comes with putting less pressure on yourself about your running time and finding a running style that gives you enough time to stand in line to take pictures with characters and just having fun.
So, if you’re interested in keeping up with my running adventures and think it’s worthy of a donation to camp, I’d appreciate it. I’d love to see my 19.3 miles go to a great cause.
