A sweet girly experience
A while back, I planned a trip to Chicago in May with Jordan and my mom while we built a new helper arm for Jordan. Unfortunately we had to reschedule. And life being the way it is, my mom wasn’t able to join us on the second attempt to fit in a prosthetic building experience. But since school just ended for the summer, I brought Cameron along instead.
There’s one thing I didn’t cancel – a lunch trip to American Girl Cafe on Michigan Avenue. I was able to reschedule and I brought Cameron along for the fun. Amazingly enough, he was tolerant of the pink and the girly stuff. Why? Well… the food was yummy and Cam had a great sense of humor about it all. Plus, while Jordan’s special doll got a high chair, Cam asked one for his sock alien doll. He didn’t mind if it was a pink high chair. Classic. They both thought it was pretty cool to be in a fancy restaurant that has food kids like.
The tables were decorated with napkin holders that turned into new hair bows for Miss Jordan. Her doll got to use a little plate and mug during the lunch. Also, our dessert at the end of the event was a TON of yummy sugar. Cam was the only person to eat it all.
Here’s the kids at our fun lunch:
Along with the sweet lunch, I let Jordan pick out one outfit for her doll and a matching outfit for herself. A total splurge… But I bought it large enough that she’ll fit in it for the next two years! She’s very proud of the new outfit.
Bobbles = Awesome. What a sweet big bro. Love keeping up with your family and reading the posts, Jen. Sounds like a memorable weekend.
Love! Love! Love!! Ooh, that looks like SO much fun for a little girl! Has Jordan ever asked for a doll who has a little arm like her?
You know Breck, Jordan hasn’t asked for a doll with a little arm. She did ask for a hand like her doll… which was heartbreaking!
Wow again!! I just love the adventures you all have. What a great brother Cameron is too. You’ve really got it together there mom! P.S. My daughter didn’t request a doll with a little arm, however, my dad bought a Fancy Nancy doll for her for Christmas last year and “altered” it. She hasn’t quite caught on yet since she’s only two, but maybe nows the time for me to bring it back out.
