Celebrating everyone's #DisneySide at home

I’m about to share details about a really fun party we held over the weekend. We received free products in order to host the #DisneySide @Home Celebration from Disney Parks and Mom Select. The opinions expressed here are my own.

A trip to Disney World is a joy for our family. The day we flew home from our special visit during the Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend, we found out our family had a chance to celebrate the Disney Parks at our house. Between February 15 and March 1st, homes across the country are holding fun celebrations with kids and adults. Since my household seems to be constantly in a state of busy, I picked the very first day I could to have our bash.

My friend, Kate from The Guavalicious Life, and I gathered a pile of kids and their parents into my house to celebrate our DisneySide with a twist on the #runDisney experience. The kids were given fun challenges to goof around, run around and earn a medal.

The kids’ biggest challenge was creating a special t-shirt. Jordan and one of her close friends designed castle shirts. I love how different they turned out. (Jordan’s is the simple design while her friend, K, was able to create amazing detail on her shirt.)

The kids had to run around, be silly and make goofy noises. They also had a chance to enjoy Disney movies and learn how to play Disney Infinity. Jordan even showed some of the kids how to play the Kinect Disneyland game. Of course, we also enjoyed low-tech fun, like #DisneySide bingo.

The house was full of Mickey cupcakes, pizza, balloons and SO much Disney magic. The kids were all giddy – kind of like how we feel when we’re at the parks. Jordan tells me her favorite part was making her shirts and showing off the fun Disney games her friends could play.

Cameron says his favorite part was the Mickey Mouse cupcakes. They were a huge hit with a lot of the kids during the party. I love how easy it is to turn a simple cupcake into something extra awesome with tiny Oreos. Kate is a genius with fun ways to decorate for a theme.

The kids had a ball and didn’t need too much oversight once they completed their #runDisney challenge. That gave the parents a little room to celebrate and have fun together as well. I even had a chance to share some of my Disney Parks stories from the many years we’ve visited Disney World. Kids and parents having a ball? You know that’s something you don’t get to enjoy every day! Having the chance to celebrate Disney was an unexpected bit of fun for all of us.

The funniest part of the party may have been Bailey, our new puppy. He was incredibly good while our house was invaded. He actually slept through a big chunk of the party in the same room where the kids were singing and dancing to Disney movies. Later, he crashed out by my feet in the kitchen. Since Bailey lives in a house full of #DisneySide pride, he was able to show his true colors with the help of his leash while I kept an eye on him. It really was a party where everyone, including puppies, could have fun.

The #DisneySide @Home Celebration is part of a promotion with help from Disney Parks and MomSelect. I received a free celebration kit to host the celebration. The opinions expressed here are completely my own.
