Claws from Carter – A Camp No Limits idea comes to life
One of the coolest things we do each year is attend Camp No Limits. It’s a huge foundation to Jordan’s confidence and abilities. I love it so much, I joined the board. During camp, there are always kids who are learning to ride a bike for the first time. An upper limb difference can make it tricky to find your balance when riding a bike. Jordan figured out her balance with the help of her activity arm.
But there is another awesome option that is inexpensive and came out of camp thanks to the camp’s wonderful physical therapist, Sara. Her sister designed a way to help kids with a little arm use PVC piping to ride their bike. You can see the design by downloading it from here.
I shared the design with Mike Campos whose son, Carter, just turned four. He wanted to give Carter a new bike for his birthday but he couldn’t figure out a way to help him ride. I shared the PVC pipe design and Mike ran with it. Not only did he build one for Carter, he even created a video explaining how you can build one for under $20.
