Expanded reasons for thanks

It’s Thanksgiving Day in the United States and it gives me an awesome excuse to be thankful for so many things this year.

We’re thankful for Sam’s friendship!

The World of Inclusive Design
This year, we got to know some remarkable people involved in the world of inclusive design. From Kate Ganim at KIDmob who convinced me to bring Jordan to San Francisco to help expand her mind into 3D design and adaptations. To Sam Hobish who has gone above and beyond to volunteer his time and knowledge to help Jordan learn as the grows. To Sarah O’Rourke who continues to find awesome ways Jordan can partner with Autodesk. To John Wong and Melina Brown at Enable Community Foundation for your constant support. To Susannah Fox who is the outgoing Chief Technology Officer at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services… She saw Born Just Right’s contribution in the world of maker health and has helped encourage us to keep going! I’m also SO thankful to the many, many former students and friends who helped us tell Jordan’s stories about limb difference American Girl dolls and Project Unicorn.

Family and Friends
I’m incredibly lucky to have friends near and far. This year, I’ve had a number of my friends rally me toward launching Born Just Right into a non-profit. Some great people have stepped forward with a lot of advice and support, including a great group who have joined the board. I also have an amazing crew of friends on the Disney Parks Moms Panel. I’ve loved having the chance to help answer questions for Guests planning trips to Walt Disney World Resort. I also can’t wait for our family to end this year on an epic trip to the parks and celebrate the holidays with Disney Cruise Line! I’m also so thankful for our local cross country, CrossFit Kids, and Girls On the Run coaches. Jordan has a remarkable number of adults supporting her as she continues to focus on being strong and healthy. It’s a commitment we’ve made for her long-term health with a limb difference.

Our family has given us tremendous amounts of support – cheering us on for all of our efforts this year. I travel enough for work and Randy tolerated a tremendous amount of my travel that went beyond the full-time job. Jordan’s grandparents, uncles, and aunts are awesome cheerleaders. Her brother, Cameron, has been an amazing support even though he rolls his eyes around Jordan a lot.

We’re thankful for our community!

Limb Difference Community
I am SO thankful for you. I’m amazed by the incredible people we have met through the years. We loved getting to know even more families through the Superhero Cyborg event, Camp No Limits and Nubability Athletics. I’m also amazed by how I’ve had the chance to meet with Born Just Right families everywhere I go. I love sneaking in a quick hello while traveling for work or for fun. I’m also amazed how we all stay in touch with the help of a comment here on this site or a photo shared on social media. I LOVE seeing the awesome kids on Instagram when we include #bornjustright.

Today, we’re taking time to celebrate as a family – even though Cameron is in Florida with his school marching band. Even while he’s away, a member of our Born Just Right family found Cameron in Epcot yesterday. We all have such an awesome connection. For that, I am very thankful.
