Finding Nemo is back – Thank you Disney
When Jordan was born six years ago, her brother was almost four years old and his friends had a lot of questions. One of the easiest ways to explain Jordan’s limb difference to kids was, “Remember Nemo and his lucky fin? Well, Jordan has a little arm just like his fin.”
These days, that explanation doesn’t always make sense to kids. A lot of little kids have NEVER seen the movie! I know that seems shocking, but it isn’t in Disney’s DVD rotation right now and there are kids falling outside the Nemo loop. So it was thrilling to hear the announcement that Finding Nemo is returning to theaters.
Thank you Disney for bringing Nemo back this Fall and giving us a chance to celebrate limb differences again with the help of a very cute and brave clown fish.
This is one of our all time favorite movies and we can’t wait to go see it in 3D. We have also used this movie to explain Haylee’s hand to herself but also to others. It is an amazing movie.
Jordan practically tackled me and begged to go see it when I told her about the re-release of the movie. She’s so excited.

If there is a child having trouble or scared, you can help his or her parents better explain that everyone is different and sometimes some people look different. Finding Nemo continues to be an amazing example of a limb difference. Thank goodness it returned to the movie theaters. […]
