Hiking the trails
I took the kids out for a hike this afternoon… it’s a hike we’ve taken many, many times. But it’s been a while and the kids actually kind of forgot the trail until we were deep into the hike. It’s a simple, happy hike where I have to remind them to keep an eye on their feet, but I don’t have to hold hands and worry they’ll fall down a cliff.
There something so simple and peaceful about hiking. We sat together and ate lunch with the cool fall breeze and bird chirping. The kids were pretending one side of a dry creek was the real world and the other side was Narnia. They had a power to freeze each other, but I couldn’t really understand the rules. We explored sinkholes and a wet cave (I convinced them not to go into the water). There weren’t many people on the trails. It was great to enjoy the nature around us. It’s funny how we’ve hiked more out of state this year than we have in our own town!
Hiking is one of our favorite activities!! (Although it was much easier to go more places last year when I could still put Little Bugg in a carrier, now she has to walk, so we’re limited.)
I adore the imaginations of kids! Pretending they were in Narnia is just awesome!
