How do I throw?

That’s what Jordan asked as we drove to t-ball practice last night. She was admiring her pink catcher’s mitt that I bought a couple of years ago to let her join in on the fun while her brother played ball. I let her know all she had to do was take her mitt off and throw the ball. That seemed to ease her mind a bit.

Jordan is the only girl on her team… and that didn’t seem to bother her. She jumped right in and started throwing and laughing and having fun.

Making the practice even more special, her brother Cameron joined in to help with the practice. He was teaching the kids how to throw the ball in the air, throw grounders and catch grounders. I was so incredibly proud to see him pitch in with the five and six year olds. Plus, Jordan was totally receptive to his teaching.

Jordan got tired of the glove on/off process pretty quickly. Her mitt is a little tight on her hand, so I’m going to take her to the store and buy one that is a little larger so she has an easier time taking it off. What was wonderful was how much fun she was having. The team asked her about her arm and Cameron stepped up and told the group that’s how she was born. Jordan was willing to show it to a little boy who was the most curious and they ended up practicing together for the rest of the time. She’s excited. I’m excited. Cameron is really into the thrill of being a coach. It was a good time for all.
