Incredibly lucky
Three days ago this site was hacked by a really nasty couple of people. We have a couple of IP addresses and we’ll see if it’s possible to track that person or people down. But what is remarkable is that this site is back up and running in such a short amount of time.
I missed being able to post here. I missed every story and tip and piece of advice. I knew it was hidden inside a database, but seeing it back and visible online is such a wonderful feeling.
I want to thanks Russell Perkins a thousand times over for pitching in and giving his time for nothing but a gift of a dinner. He claims this wasn’t a big deal, but he poured through file after file of infected content to make sure Born Just Right could return. I’m honored he would spend time on my personal server crises as he helps launch a new startup during the SXSW conference in Austin, TX. I happened to arrive in Austin for the same conference today. I was able to give him a hug in person and with the help of another friend in town, deliver him food along with some food for others living in a rental house for this month.
I’m so lucky to have a supportive net of people behind me… it’s bigger than I realize every day.
So next up is the SXSW Interactive Festival. I hope to share my perspectives as a journalist and a advocate to this conference. I’m really excited to speak and I hope I can report back with lessons learned and ideas gained.
