One-Handed Zippers | For Real

I  am rarely excited about clothing. But right before I went to sleep last night, I discovered a link from Fast Company that was shared by a Born Just Right mom. It’s quite possibly one of the most tiny, yet remarkable things I’ve seen. For anyone who struggles with zippers (and there are many beyond the limb difference community)… This is a big deal.

I’m honestly not overstating this.

The Under Armour brand has a new type of zipper that you can use with one hand. Seriously. You must watch this video:

I am so excited to see this and I kind of want to rush to the store to buy all of the MagZip clothes. I also hope Under Armour will make this for kids. I also hope they’ll sell the MagZip to every other clothing manufacturer. It’s so awesome. Thank you Under Armour! I haven’t been this excited about a piece of clothing since… Honestly, maybe never.

Looks great, they should be making them for kids who need them, not just for athletes!

My son is 10 and has mild AMC , he has trouble with buttons on his shorts, there could be a good niche market out there for an entrepreneur in fashion!!!

    Jen….
Nice to know that I am not the only female alive who does not care for clothing!! 😉
What a neat invention!! Good for them!! And I agree with Regi. They should be making them for kids who need them, not just for athletes!! Perhaps you should write them a letter and suggest this!! 😉

Raelyn – I did mention in an email to the innovations manager at Under Armour that I hoped they would license out this zipper to other brands. It’s too important to help others to keep it solely with athletic clothing.

That is THE coolest thing ever!!! My 17yo daughter has moderate cerebral palsy and has an impaired right hand. Zippers are impossible unless they are already linked up and can be “held down” on their own and have a long tab and… and… and…. This looks amazing! Even showed it to my hubby. Thank you so much sharing! (Visiting form “Love That Max”)

I’m so super excited, Kerith. I’m excited it’s going to help so many people. I can’t wait to see even more brands use it.

LOVE THIS!!!! My oldest son has Cerebral Palsy and is not able to use his right hand to assist his left hand. This would give him so much more independence. Thank you for posting this! I’ll keep my eyes open and hope that Under Amour will expand their line for kids too. 😀
