See you in Austin!

Holy cow. I am so excited. Yes, I’m in Disney World and that is exciting in its own right. But there’s another totally different reason why I’m excited.

Thanks to your help, my South by Southwest Interactive Festival proposal was accepted for the 2012 conference in March. I’ve pitched sessions before, but this is the first time I’ve had one accepted. I know this was possible thanks to the help of you and so many others who were willing to help cast a vote months ago. The announcement about the winners came out Monday, but I was too busy hopping from park to park and getting Jordan all dolled up at the Bibbidy Bobbidy Boutique at Downtown Disney. It took me checking my  phone as I left the Magic Kingdom tonight to see a note from a friend who told me one of my session pitches was accepted into the conference. It’s called: Tech Unity Beyond the #SpecialNeeds Hashtag. I’m running the session with Kate Canterbury and Robert Rummel-Hudson. I am honored and excited to make this happen.

What’s next? Brainstorming and reaching out to the SXSW community to see who we can encourage to attend. I would really like to get as many people who want to help unify the special needs community as possible. I’m also hoping to encourage tech-minded people who like to come up with complicated solutions! My goal is to try and encourage the special needs community to help each other. We have more in common than you may realize and we can all use each other for support.

Awesome, and congratulations! Sounds like a great panel. I wish I could be there.
