Showing our #DisneySide at Disney World and at Home

We are now a two weeks back in reality after spending five days at Disney World to take part in the Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend. If you’ve noticed, we have a long history of going to Disney World. Jordan celebrated her first, third, fifth and seventh birthdays there. Yes, she’ll be there for her ninth birthday.

Our trip to Disney World this month was very different than any other visit. It was focused on taking part in the marathon weekend. I ran in the Walt Disney World Half Marathon while the kids both ran in the #runDisney Kids Mickey Mile. Both races were memorable and fun. My run… Well, it was also pretty hot. But how can you complain about heat when most of the country is under a polar vortex? For the kids, the race was pretty neat. They got to run together, while their parents cheered, photographers took photos and they won medals at the end. For me, encouraging the kids during a run was the coolest way to share our Disney Side.

For a while, Cameron and Jordan ran the race together… Near the end, Cam decided to sprint to the finish in an Usain Bolt kind of way to finish in 10:24. Jordan maintained her steady pace and finished in 10:32. The  photographers captured some pretty wonderful photos of her run.

And yes. She is running in a sparkle skirt.

The next day I conquered the Disney World half marathon… It wasn’t my fastest race. But I stopped to take pictures with characters, drink all the water (it was humid) and enjoy the fun with the family in front of the castle at the halfway mark in the run. We had a lot of fun even if we were all very low on sleep. But over that weekend, magic continued with our Camp No Limits fundraiser and we reached Jordan’s secondary goal of $4,000 in donations. Wow.

We rocked three out of four parks during our visit: Hollywood Studios, Magic Kingdom and Epcot. We got to ride on just about every ride we love to visit and watch most of the light shows. We saw many of the parts of Disney that make us smile. And Jordan got to have an epic battle with Darth Vader:

We ended our trip with two extra memories. The kids got to enjoy a dip in our hotel pool (at Pop Century) and during our travel home,

I found out we get to host a #DisneySide @Home Celebration. There is a huge box on its way to our house to help us host a party to let our friends join us to celebrate our favorite things about Disney. I’m thrilled to have Disney pick our family to hold the party… And it’s perfect timing. We are still riding our post-Disney World vacation high. We can’t wait to transform our house into a celebration of something that makes us very happy.

So get ready, our house is going to transform into a fun Disney space. Our #DisneySide is just growing and bringing our park happiness into our home sounds perfect. We can’t wait to share the experience with you!

The #DisneySide @Home Celebration is part of a promotion with help from Disney Parks and MomSelect. I will receive a free celebration kit to host the celebration. The opinions expressed here are my own.

    Jen….
So Jordan celebrates her odd number birthdays at Disney World!! Awesome!! 😉
“How can you complain about heat when most of the country is under a polar vortex?”. True. But I just might!! I absolutely despise hot temperatures!! Heat makes me cranky and brings out the worst of me!! 😉
Yeah!! Jordan is battling Darth Vader!! Cool!! When I was an oddball teenager, {The only thing that has changed about me is age!!} I became obsessed with Darth Vader!! I owned an action figure. I read all about his story {I knew everything well before Episodes 1, 2 and 3 were even made!!} Plus I convinced myself that Darth Vader was no villain!! Just a lost soul who became influenced by the Dark Side!! After all. Anakin redeemed himself in “Return of the Jedi”!! 😉

I totally agree the Darth Vader is a lost soul, Raelyn. I always thought so. Or he would have never revealed he was Luke’s father!
