So many special occasions in one weekend

My head is spinning just thinking of everything we accomplished in one weekend. Just as we headed into the weekend, I surprised the kids with a chance to attend a two-day music festival in our town. It’s something they’ve had a chance to attend almost every year, but I didn’t expect us to have the chance to go this year. So they were super excited.
That night, we met a little two and a half year old girl while we hung out in a park listening to music. Jordan started playing with this sweet little one and it was magical. They were giggling, swinging glow sticks and rolling around on the grass. (Jordan kept letting the girl tackle her… The girl’s mom would apologize each time and Jordan would laugh and say, “That’s okay. We’re having fun.”) It’s amazing to watch my baby grow up to be sweet to younger kids. They were so sweet together.

On Saturday, we rushed out of the house… we stayed up so late the night before. But we had to get to St. Louis to enjoy our special showing of Disney on Ice Treasure Trove. We had a really fun giveaway through Hallmark and there was no way we’d miss that show! Beforehand, we had a fun lunch with our friends from The Guavalicious Life (Kate is also my co-partner in Special Need Tech). Jordan enjoyed her first strawberry cream soda. It was a perfect blast of sugar.

The show was super fun… Our little moments include Jordan running into the arena as we searched for our seats. Her giggles as she realized each new story that was about to appear on the ice. The simple thrills of a toy that spins and lights up. I’m thankful for the chance to watch Jordan’s thrill… and even her disappointment when she didn’t see EVERY princess story. For some reason, she had expected every single story. She calmed down when at least she could see Cinderella and Belle in the grand finale of the show. I didn’t expect that! I think my girl loves each and every Disney story.

My favorite moment of the show? The Lion King. Seriously. Disney is so good at creating realistic animals for the stage. It’s so cool.

Speaking of cool, we drove back home as quick as possible to see the final two acts of the music festival. Jordan was exhausted and wanted to fall asleep. But when Al Green started performing, Jordan grooved in ways I’ve never seen before. She mashed up your standard bouncing concert boogie with ballet. Strangers were complimenting her for her style. We were all pretty darn impressed.

Other weekend moments:
Watching her smack the heck out of a piñata during a birthday party today.

Cuddling with both kids during the music festival and this morning on the couch.

Watching Jordan play hard during her soccer game… and scoring her first goal of the season. Super cool.

What a tremendous weekend full of little moments. Thanks again to Hallmark for helping give us new special memories.
