That moment when you step back and watch
We’re already getting into a pattern with the new school year. The kids get up, I make sure they eat breakfast while I make school lunches. I encourage Cameron to practice piano or guitar (or both). I convince both kids to stop fighting. We walk to school and I go to work. When I get back to school, I take the kids to various activities. We eat dinner. We play a little. I get the kids to bed.
Rinse. Repeat.
So when we get into this pattern, I don’t always take a moment and watch. But for some reason while we all walked to school yesterday, I took a moment.
And I’m really proud.
I’m proud of how both of my kids are growing up. I watch Jordan running and laughing as she continues to navigate what is useful with and without wearing her helper arm. Her ease in social environments is something to be envious of for anyone. For her to feel comfortable in a society that makes anyone with any type of difference feel uncomfortable is pretty great. That says a lot about her school and our neighborhood. But I want to give Jordan credit for her ability to let the little things slide so she can enjoy life. She’s doing great and I’m so glad I took that moment to watch.
Great reminder to stop the whirlwind for a minute! Glad she’s doing great!
As a mother of four…these moments are priceless and leave a lasting impression on our hearts.
Good job, Mom! We need to hear that more often! Have a great day!
I love back to school and back to routines!
I know I love them mainly so I can better schedule my life!
My favorite moments are not always the ones when I’m totally involved, they’ve become the moments that I watch my boys just be themselves.
