Trying to help a bit
Ever since I posted about my thoughts about young amputees in Haiti, I’ve been on a quest to see how I can help… And an idea popped into my mind: Camp No Limits.
It’s the awesome camp the kids and I attended last year and will attend again next month in Missouri. There will be a number of children there – and some of them may have prosthetics they’ve grown out of. I know Jordan has a few. So I started chatting with the director of the camp to see if we could start a limb drive at camp.
Of course I’m an overachiever and when the director asked me to create a flyer about the collection, I created a website instead: Helpers4Haiti – you know – Helper arms and legs? The kids can be helpers by sharing their extra limbs? Both version of the word “helpers” works. That’s why I named it that way. So… If you happen to read this blog and have a spare helper arm or leg, let me know… I would love to collect it even if you can’t attend camp. I’m also thinking about holding an unofficial limb drive at the St. Louis Zoo on June 26 – the day before camp starts since I want to take the kids to the zoo.
What do you think?
So very cool. Proud of you, mama.
Wow! Love the site! They are lucky to have such a go-getter of a momma on their team caring for such a worthy cause! Give you an inch and you take a mile!
